PsychicGoldfish Projects
By this time, you must be asking yourself "Gee, if Nathan is this exciting
and intriguing on the Web, what could he possibly be like in real life?" Oh, is
that what they're asking? I would have went with "Where did the last five
minutes of my life go?" Erm. Yeah. Well. I've always thought that you can
tell quite a bit
about a person by what he does with his free time. So, to that end, I've written some
articles, complete with pictures, telling you, gentle reader, exactly what I've been
doing with myself. So you mean this is a way for you to feed your Narcissistic
impulses while getting the occasional chance to play with your camera, right?
Well, that too. So, without further ado, here's some of my favorite projects.
- Plywood: the Webcomic is a webcomic
set in the online world of Second Life. It's
co-created by me and Monica Young, another SL denizen. Unfortunately, if you don't
play the game, you probably won't get many of the jokes. (It's a typical gamer
comic, really.)
- Actually, Second Life has been sucking up most of my free time lately. SL, along
with my general laziness, is the main reason this site has been so sporadically updated.
Feel free to drop in on my Second Life Weblog
to see what I've been up to lately. And if you want to see something really silly,
check this
out.
- I made a few custom designed levels for the
Vehicle game
by Paul Schmidinger. (Note: These levels are
over 200k apiece.)
- Here are my entries for the BEF's Office Bricolage contests. Basically, I had a month
to build weapons out of common office supplies. I'm still finding little bits of paperclips
in my carpets.
- After weeks of painstaking research and development, the PsychicGoldfish team
is proud to present the breast enhancing ringtone!
(Class is highly overrated.) Warning: over 400k worth of MP3 files.
- I've made several miniatures to use in
the various RPGs I've played in over the years. "See? That's social. Demented
and sad, but social." I mostly work in Lego nowadays, with past forays into
telephone wire and paperclips.
- I made a neat laser pointer lens attachment once.
Not particularly cutting edge or anything, but it looks cool.
- I own a Playstation. Mostly I use it as a CD player. I did make a
light gun for it a while back, mostly to play Area 51.
You know, blowing up evil zombies and aliens with shotguns, and other good stuff like
that. Ah. An educational game.
- A while ago, I attempted to learn how to throw knives.
I've made a nifty target to chuck them at, as well.
- I built a lava lamp once. A friend once referred
to it as the "White Trash Lava Lamp." I think the name fits.
- I once built a key pressing machine to perform
various actions for the online game Everquest, mostly because someone said it couldn't be
done. So there.
- As a part of my recycling effort, I am researching alternate uses for
my old Coca-Cola cans. Yeah, I know I could get a few cents a ton for them, but where's
the fun in that? Instead, check out my Coke Can Music.
- Launch some fireworks. Thanks to Time Tripper for the script.
(You're just the king of the script kiddies, aren't you?)
- Check out the Mystic Blender.
- The Microwaved CD-ROM Experiment, in
which I irradiated 28 CD-ROMs in order to observe variations in microwave induced
foil fracture patterns. Translation: He nuked 28 old CDs in the microwave late
one night, and then took pictures.
- Concentrate on your question and the amazing Psychic Goldfish will plumb the depths of the Beyond to bring you your answer! (You may have to nudge him a bit first.) Check it out on the
start page.
- Here's an archive of logos I made for use in
signature lines on an electronic forum. Mostly a monument to my own excessive spare time.
- You could consider leaving me a comment on the handy, dandy Comment Form.
