Yes, it's twenty year old technology. But I still think they're cool. "Eye of the Storm" is a brand name. They're usually called plasma globes, or just "those lightning ball thingies." These pictures were taken at approximate shutter speeds between 1/4 and 1/2 second, in a dark room.
