This is a giant mosquito hawk I found in my bathroom one night. It had absolutely no fear of me or my camera. Click on the picture for a larger view. After taking this shot, I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to shoo the silly thing out my window. I couldn't bring myself to swat it after it was such a cooperative model.

In mid April, 2004, I found a dragonfly on my car, plastered to my windshield by a severe rain. I ended up carefully removing it with a twig and placing it out of the rain. The pictures are pretty mediocre, I agree. But I slipped on wet tile floors and just about cracked my skull open while going for my camera. So I'm going to post them anyway.
This is a Common House Gecko. Click the picture for a larger view. These lizards are originally native to Africa. But they have been imported in such numbers, as stowaways in shipping containers, that they're fairly common all over the South. My garage is home to a large colony of them. This one made its way to my laundry room. (I've really got to sweep out my laundry room one of these days.) I took it outside after I took this picture.

This was intended to be a picture of one of the fluorescent green spiders that have taken up residence in and on my car. It mostly ended up being a picture of the trees, reflected in the heavily tinted glass of my rear window.
