Guided Tour:
Follow me, if you would, from far left to far right. Please form a line, and stay behind the velvet ropes.
On the door, there is a framed letter from Pope Pius XI to Father Jacob Schnetzer of the St. Mary's Parish in Galveston. I found it in a garage sale, and haven't come up with a better place for it yet. There are some betterpictures available.
Just outside, you can see my Lego 9mm pistol. I purchased it online as a kit. (I see the price has gone up quite a bit since I bought mine.)
Then, just past the bedroom door, you can just make out a sidelong view of my sword collection. Here's a better view.
Just past that and around the corner is my den. And the door at the end of the hall leads to the garage. That fuzzy disc on the door is actually a Skil saw blade, painted with a farm scene. Seemed appropriate.
And now, as we return to the office, we'll move past the end table under the light switch, and take a look at the book shelves. The shelves on the left contain, from top to bottom:
Several roleplaying books and game session notes. Sigh. I miss roleplaying.
A few dozen graphic novels and bookshelf format comic collections.
More graphic novels.
A set of children's encyclopedias I let myself get talked into buying at a garage sale.
The shelves in the middle contain all of my old college textbooks. I just couldn't bring myself to sell them back for pennies on the dollar. I think I even opened one a few months back.
The shelves on the right are used for crap overflow. Notable items include, generally from top to bottom, left to right:
My Airzooka. Big deal, you say? Well mine has a laser sight. So there!
Several dozen AOL CDs. I collect them for a couple of projects I'm working on.
A caricature drawn at an office Christmas party a few years ago.
My Dremel tool. Shockingly, I actually use other bits besides the cutoff wheel. Amazing, I know.
Yet another Airzooka, new in box, in case I need a spare.
A couple of boxes of office supplies left over from the BEF's office bricolage contest. I'll never want for paperclips, tape, or pencils again.
On the table is my old Compaq. It's hopelessly obsolete by now. I mostly hooked it up so that a friend could play Everquest. I don't think I've even turned it on since he moved.
A television set. Because I can never be more than five paces from the idiot box.
TiVo! Daddy wuvs you, TiVo! Yes, he does. Yes he does! Little TiVee-weevy-woo! Ahem... Yeah. Moving along.
The blue rod on the window sill is a Wizard Stick, a portable smoke generator. I bought it to trace air currents and drafts for work. Oh, who am I kidding? Smoke! Instant smoke at the touch of a button! How cool is that?
The flannel thing at the bottom is my home made foot stool. I'm kind of proud of it. Turn it 90 degrees, and it fits neatly inside the desk drawer.
Then, of course, there's my real computer. Next to that is the printer, network hub, UPS, and DSL modem. Note the 3D glasses on the top. I got them to use withEverquest. It's okay,
I suppose, but not the immersive .hack-esque
experience I hoped for. But, then, that didn't work out so well for Tsukasa, so I suppose it's
for the best.
And, finally, you can see part of my treadmill. It's supposed to be a pretty good one, or so I'm told. You can also see the thick layer of dust. One of these days, I'm going to start using
it. Really!
And there you have it! My office, in a nutshell. Next stop, the gift shop!
